Message from IEEE President 2023 for 8th IEEE WIECON-ECE 2022:

Hello everyone. I am Saifur Rahman, and it is my pleasure and honor to serve as the 2022 President-elect of IEEE.

I would like to thank the organizers – IEEE Bangladesh Section and IEEE Madhya Pradesh Section who in collaboration with their WIE Affinity Group are jointly organizing the 8th IEEE International Women in Engineering (WIE) Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering 2022 (IEEE WIECON-ECE 2022) at International Institute of Information Technology, Naya Raipur (IIIT-NR), INDIA.

Thanks for the opportunity to speak to you today. I would like to mention that I had joined, in-person the first IEEE WIECON-ECE 2015, in Bangladesh. WiECon is a great platform to promote diversity and inclusion, and involve women in climate change solutions.

For those who are unfamiliar with IEEE, we are the world’s largest technical professional society. Our more than 400,000 members work across academia, industry, and government with the goal of advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.

Through our highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities, IEEE members from over 160 countries build communities of diverse engineering and technological professionals and inspire innovative technological solutions.

At IEEE, we know that the advancement of scientific and technical knowledge has always been the engine that drives the quality of life for every citizen of this planet. IEEE’s core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity and to be universally recognized for the contributions of technology and of technical professionals in improving global conditions.

One way we do this is by helping not only our members but also the entire global community understand how technology can be used to solve important problems and provide solutions to such life-altering issues as clean water, reliable energy, food production, and access to health care and education.

Progress in engineering, technology, and science is a global endeavor with worldwide implications, guided best by a diverse and inclusive community of engineers, technologists, researchers, and entrepreneurs with a goal of developing and sharing innovative solutions for the benefit of all.

At IEEE, we are driven by what’s next—enabling innovation and the creation of new technologies. Our focus is on fostering collaboration, building and convening communities, and supporting the creation and dissemination of technical knowledge.

I am honored to be part of IEEE’s global, technological enterprise. One that is committed to scientific and technical discovery and innovation that improves our standards of living and helps us care for each other and for our planet.

I applaud the organizer’s efforts to build a platform for international cooperation in science, technology, and innovation. I wish you a successful conference.
